CAC – the Community Advisory Committee includes government, agency, and business representatives, as well as, members-at-large from the general public. The CAC will meet frequently to review work completed to date, identify areas of concern, and provide input and suggestions for improvements. The goal of the Committee is to enhance the exchange of information between the community and the Project Team.

FHWA - Federal Highway Administration

Grade-Separated Intersection - The junction of two roadways, separated by a structure with ramps that provide access between the intersecting roadways.

LOS - Level of Service (LOS) is a rating system used by traffic engineers to determine the operating conditions of a roadway. It is measured in terms of the time delay that occurs when you travel a section of road or through an intersection. The ability of a roadway or intersection to accommodate vehicles in a timely way is affected by the:

  • number of cars
  • trucks
  • bus stops
  • number of lanes to move traffic
  • width of the lanes
  • grades of the roadway approaching the intersection
There are six LOS that are given letter designations, with A representing the best operating conditions (less than a 10 second delay) and F representing the worst (over an 80 second delay).

PennDOT - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
